RECONNECT

WITH YOUR

CREATIVITY

We must imagine a better world before we can build it.

Liberatory Creativity Workshops

Most of us reach adulthood convinced we're not creative. Not because it's true, but because we were taught that creativity belongs to professionals, prodigies, or people with the "right" talent.

As children, we knew better. We knew we were powerful little beings and that the source of our power came from our imaginations. We weren't waiting for divine inspiration or technical know-how. We were too busy falling in love with all the wonder and infinite potential around us. We created universes and characters that were expressive and curious. We built forts in the forest and cast spells with wildflowers and puddle water. We didn't just see the infinite potential — we believed in it. We were excited by it. We harnessed it.

Then came the expiration date. Most of us were told to grow up, be realistic, and leave that core part of ourselves behind.

That was the colonized, capitalistic world preparing us for obedience and survival within its realms. In this world, passion is measured through productivity and imagination only speaks in dollars. It doesn't see creativity as a necessary part of the human condition unless it generates income. This world is not the natural world. It is the manufactured one that promises us comfort after 60+ years of exploitation if we agree to play by its rules.

Not knowing any better, we packed away our crayons, threw out the puddle water, and somewhere along the way, our creativity became a past-tense sentence: "When I was a child, I used to..."

We left that poor kiddo in a dark corner after telling them it was time to be an adult.

Whatever that means.

But that marvellous little kid is still there. Still waiting. Still a part of you. With years of unleashed power itching to be channeled into your own healing, and the world around you.

These workshops are a gentle excavation. Together, we will find that kid again.

About the Facilitator

I'm Nora Salem, an Egyptian-Palestinian visual artist and advocate. My work lives at the intersection of creativity, grief, and resistance.

I spent years running a multi-disciplinary studio and, before that, working in frontline social services. I've also spent a lot of time unlearning the idea that creativity is something you're either good at or not. I know what it feels like to have your imagination packed away in a dark corner, told it is time to grow up and be realistic.

This workshop comes from my own practice of reclaiming creativity as a tool for healing and liberation. In these workshops, I teach techniques to help you explore your imagination. I create space for you to visit parts of yourself you feel you have lost, or are struggling to get back to.

All you need to do is be brave enough to bring whatever version of yourself shows up that day. That's more than enough.

Sliding Scale Pricing

I believe financial barriers shouldn't keep anyone from reconnecting with their creativity. This workshop operates on a community-funded sliding scale model. You choose the tier that honestly reflects your financial situation.

Community ($0)

You are facing significant financial barriers. You struggle to make bill payments or afford basic needs like groceries, rent, or transportation. No questions asked. If a spot is available, it's yours.

Subsidized ($50)

You have limited financial flexibility. You can afford buying yourself a coffee most mornings or going out for dinner once a month, but unexpected expenses would be difficult. Your spot is partially funded by other tiers.

Standard ($100)

You can meet your basic needs and have a little left over. You might carry some debt or have to budget for extras, but you're not regularly worrying about bills. Your spot covers your own participation.

Community Supporter ($150)

You are financially comfortable. You can save for goals, travel, or take time off without major stress. You want to help sustain this work. Your spot partially funds subsidized spots.

Pay It Forward ($200)

You have significant financial stability. You own your home, have a high-income career, or come from generational wealth. You want to use your privilege to fully fund access for others. Your spot covers your participation and fully funds one community spot.

How to choose?

Pay what truly reflects your situation. There is no judgment at any level. If you can pay more, you are directly helping someone else attend. If you need a Community spot, it is offered with care, not charity.

Spaces are limited to 8 participants per workshop, with Community & Subsidized spots capped at each session to ensure costs and labour are covered. If the Community spots are full, I can add you to a waitlist for the next workshop.

If you'd like to sponsor a Community Spot for a future workshop but cannot attend a session, please reach out.
